JBDS were appointed to deliver the Section 278 works located at Gateway House Finchley. We attended various meeting with the client, the client’s designer and Barnet County Council to produce traffic management plans, in depth programming and slight changes to the design to get an agreeable design consistent with Barnet Council’s streetscape standards and the traffic management requirements.
Furthermore, we had to liaise with TFL as Regents Park road is key bus route on their network. As a considerate contractor with customer care at the forefront to our business values, neighbouring residents were given a letter drop prior to the works commencing so they would be aware of disruption the works may cause to the local area. The works began with a full traffic management set up in line with the various phases agreed with Barnet, TFL and the client. The first phase required the replacement of the streetscape at Regents Park road, whilst undertaking numerous parking bay suspensions to store our material and plan. The second phase followed onto Arcadia Avenue, where we had to realign the kerbs to consolidate a new loading bay for a new Waitrose local store. The third phase required us to demobilise from site as we had to undertake in the school holidays due to the Regents Park road being a major bus transport route. We undertook the planing and resurfacing works which were to be carried out under the 12-week notice during 3 phases over 3 nights (6 nights were planned with a mass diversion and traffic management arrangement in place and parking bay suspension in place).
The project was completed on time and within the contract budget with no health and safety incidents. Whilst enhancing relations with our client, Barnet Council, Transport for London, BT & UK Power Networks.
